My journey with writing and blogging has been a winding road, but every step has led me closer to the person I am today—someone eager to share stories, lessons, and experiences with the world. It all began in 2018, when I first launched my blog. Full of excitement and ideas, I dove into the world of blogging, believing I had something valuable to share. In July of that year, I even took a blogging for business course, hoping to hone my skills and gain the confidence to post regularly. But soon, doubt crept in. I struggled with finding my voice, unsure of how to create content that felt authentic and meaningful. Despite my initial enthusiasm, I stopped posting in September 2018. The fear of not measuring up kept me from writing, and the blog sat dormant.

The years that followed brought profound changes in my personal life. In 2021, I married my amazing husband, Noel, on August 7, and then, on December 14, I welcomed our beautiful daughter, N’Kiyah, into the world. These milestones marked a new chapter in my life—one that inspired me to reflect on my passions, dreams, and creative goals. It was around this time that I joined Toastmasters International. At first, my goal was to improve my public speaking skills, but Toastmasters soon became a platform where I grew in confidence and clarity. The skills I developed in speaking and storytelling gave me the courage to consider returning to my blog.

My enrolment in an online creative writing course at the Trinidad campus of the University of the West Indies in 2022 was another major milestone for me. This class was a significant achievement for me. I learnt the ins and outs of character development, emotional evocation, and narrative construction—the art of storytelling. This class taught me that I could use my writing to convey important stories and that I was underutilising my talent.
After taking the writing class and Toastmasters, I felt prepared to get back into blogging. I am both excited and worried about this article since it will be my first since September 2018. The future of my blog is now more defined for me. I envision it as a platform where I can express my creative writing, share insights gained from Toastmasters, and reflect on parenting, marriage, Bible journaling, and all the challenges that life has presented me with. This is a place where others like me can tell our true tales.
I am eager to share fragments of my motherhood journey with you, in addition to the blog posts. My oldest daughter, Mikila, who was born on January 22, 2001, has constantly motivated me. Every day, her love, courage, and knowledge mould me into the person I am today. Even more so when N’Kiyah came into this world in December 2021, my heart has grown. I want to write about parenting since it has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life.
So, here I am—taking a deep breath and sharing my first blog article after years of hesitation. I sincerely hope that my stories, teachings, and insights will be valuable to you and that my writing will resonate with you. I am grateful that you have joined me on this next phase of my life’s journey.
Here’s to the bravery to keep writing and the stories that lie ahead.
